Business success requires products that are customer focused, reliable, and cost
effective. TAP supports product development projects with up to five days of Purdue
input at no cost. Extended projects are available on a funded basis.
TAP Supports the Following Product Development Steps
- Design Input and Review: Material selection, electronics, fluid flow, structural,
design for assembly, safety, cost, etc.
- Design Method Selection: Circuit design software, Finite Element Analysis, Computational
Fluid Mechanics, CAD, use of consulting firms, and others.
- Problem Solving: Circuit board failure, structural failure, corrosion, wear, coating
problems, cost reduction, quality problems, and others.
- Product Evaluation and Testing: Metrology, statistical analysis, determination of
evaluation standards, analytical chemistry, scanning electron microscopy, optical
microscopy, and electronics testing.
- Information Technology: Integration of design systems with other business systems.
- Statistical analyses.
TAP Does Not Support
- Projects involving litigation. We can make expert referrals.
- Projects that develop intellectual property. Purdue does this using funded contracts
that specify the ownership of intellectual property.
